1. Sloth Bears Rock

- David Radcliff, Director of New Community Project 

Photo-visit parks from the Amazon to Asia to Alaska to see amazing parts of God's creation - sloth bears, pink dolphins, bison, grizzlies, Bengal tigers, AND see the many challenges parks and their critters face - from climate change to habitat loss to poaching to palm oil. Discuss problems and solutions.

2. When Neighbors Aren’t Neighborly

- Robbie Miller- former BC chaplain 

With the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus radically transformed the meaning of neighborhood and neighbor. We’ll explore how Jesus calls us to deal with neighbors who aren’t neighborly! 

3. Grief Can Be Messy 

- Jody Gunn, COB Pastor 

Everyone’s grief is unique to them.  In this workshop we will briefly share our grief story plus explore the messiness of grief with an easy art activity. 

4. Now Listen! 

- Dennis Beckner, COB Pastor 

Sometimes we’re not very good listeners and yet the Bible tells us over and over again how important it is to listen. Join a conversation on the importance of listening, especially in the age when more of us are texting or sending messages than talking to each other. We’ll use some fun examples along the way and find a new focus on the art of listening.

6. Racial Awareness Made Real!

- Eric C. Anspaugh, for the Virlina District Race Education Team

How well can you play Jeopardy? Can you play Jeopardy on the topic of Race? Come experience Jeopardy, participate in a “paper bag skit,” engage in a educational Question and Answer, and learn what you may not already know about “Standing With People of Color” (a COB Annual Conference/On Earth Peace) denomination-wide process.

7. Creation in Kaleidoscope 

- Erin Skinner, BC Chaplain 

Learn to make a small Kaleidoscope with mirrors and tape.  Discuss observations about nature, new perspectives, our relationship to and as part of God’s creation, and Genesis 1. 

8.Ben Bear

-News, Knockoffs, and Nonsense

Figuring out which news stories are real can be tough these days. Let's explore how to identify accurate info and solid sources so we can be better informed global citizens.

9. Introducing Me, Whoever That Is 

- Erika Clary, Bethany Seminary Student, IYC alum 

Jesus commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves. To love ourselves, we must know ourselves! Come with open hearts and minds to explore some ways to know ourselves better, including personality tests and faith journeys. 

10. Collage and Convo   

 - Tyler Goss, Roundtable speaker, IYC alum 

Peruse old magazines, cut out images, and get your collage on! As we use art-making to explore our faith, we will also have guided conversations where we informally chat about your anonymously submitted questions regarding the matters of faith and life. Of course, there will be collage show-and-tell. 

11. Dink Your Donks- Pickleball 

- Pieter Tramper, Brethren Woods Program Director 

At camp, we started playing pickleball two years ago. Join us to learn the rules, play a mini-tournament, and have fun! 

12. Farmers in God’s Creation 

- Dr. Verne Leininger, BC Math Professor  

This workshop will look at the role of farmers in God’s creative process. Farmers continue to grow more food on less land and create new varieties of both plants and animals. We will examine some live examples. 

13. Contemporary Christian Songwriting 

- Ryan McAllister and Glenn Bollinger, COB pastors 

Explore strategies and techniques for composing music and lyrics in a Contemporary Christian style.

14. Identity and Belonging in the Marvel Cinematic Universe 

- Kyle & Kaity Remnant, COB youth leaders 

We’ll trace themes of identity and belonging within MCU characters’ plotlines, we’ll attempt to contextualize these themes for the real world, and we’ll look at how faith plays a role in each of their stories.

 

16. The Brethren Playlist 

- Josh Layton, BC Alum 

Enjoy an interactive deep dive into classic and contemporary songs behind the Brethren movement. Complete with trivia, games, and a playlist to take with you curated to your Dunker-Punkness!
